Every year, mother turtles come ashore on Koh Talu to lay their eggs. That’s why we established the Sea Turtle Conservation Center under the Siam Marine Rehabilitation Foundation—to nurture the eggs until they hatch, raise the baby turtles, and care for them until they’re strong enough to embark on their journey into the open ocean.
Our mission is designed for the whole family to participate in meaningful conservation activities that foster genuine understanding, heartfelt engagement, and a deeper connection with nature.

Mission 1 :
Learn about sea turtles
and do volunteer activities
Sea Turtle Conservation Center staff will provide knowledge about sea turtles and invite everyone to join volunteer activities such as cleaning the turtle house and scrubbing the turtle shells (helping sea turtles to have a good appetite and grow faster).
Special activities throughout July 2025, free

Mission 2 :
Turtle Egg Hunting Game
This activity is perfect for the whole family. We will reenact the scene where a mother turtle crawls up the beach to lay her eggs. Once the mother turtle has successfully laid her eggs and returned to the sea, we will invite everyone to play as sea turtle conservationists and dig for (simulated) turtle eggs.
Followed by an art activity, painting turtle eggs as souvenirs to take home.
Special activities throughout July 2025, free
Mission 3 :
Releasing turtles back into the sea
The two people who complete missions 1 and 2 and get the highest scores will be the pair of representatives to release the baby turtles that have grown, are strong and ready to return to the sea using the correct method according to the principles of sea turtle conservation. All of the other mission members will also be witnesses.
Special activities throughout July 2025

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the history of the Sea Turtle Conservation Center on Koh Talu?
Since Koh Talu is an island with abundant nature, sea turtles regularly come up to lay eggs every year. Koh Talu Island Resort has therefore established a sea turtle conservation center under the name of the Siam Marine Resources Restoration Foundation, whose mission is to take care of sea turtles that come up to lay eggs on Koh Talu.
Why raise sea turtles in nurseries instead of letting them grow naturally?
Statistics and research have found that baby sea turtles that hatch and spend their early years in nature have a low survival rate, which is a natural selection process. However, because the current environment is unbalanced and the number of mother sea turtles is too low to make the survival ratio of baby turtles appropriate, it is necessary to take care of the baby sea turtles so that they grow up strong and healthy until the right time to release them back into nature. The care of the baby turtles must be done according to academic principles so that the baby turtles grow up and have instincts that are as close to baby turtles in nature as possible.
I want to release a sea turtle. What should I do?
Many tourists have asked about releasing sea turtles, with the intention of doing volunteer activities. But in fact, there are still many activities that are still waiting for those who truly love nature to participate, such as taking care of sea turtles with the foundation staff (which is a very hard daily job), as well as changing attitudes towards consumption and reducing plastic waste. All of these are things that we can do and are more beneficial to nature than just releasing turtles.
The foundation and Koh Talu Island Resort have designed a mission activity for the first steps of the sea turtles. It includes knowledge about sea turtles, participation in volunteer activities that actually work for the sea turtles, and fun games that everyone in the family can join. All of these activities are held to find representatives to release the sea turtles.
We believe that engaging in activities that are accessible will create a deeper connection that we will have with nature.
What are the steps involved in releasing turtles?
Baby sea turtles that are ready to venture out into the world are named, measured and weighed, recorded in a database, and microchipped with a microchip to identify them if they are found anywhere in the world. This database is also shared with the global network of sea turtle conservation centers.
Every turtle will be named, and in this activity, we will have a representative name the sea turtles. In the future, we will be able to share information with those who release sea turtles so that they can know where in the world their turtles have traveled.
Can young children participate in this activity?
Of course, we designed the activities so that everyone in the family can do it together, especially Activity 2, which is a fun but educational game. And those who complete the activity will have the right to receive a certificate to use as a portfolio of children's education.
