You should avoid diving if you have problems with respiratory system.

  14. Is there turn on/off time for water/electricity?
Yes, since Koh Talu is a small island, and there is only one resort, so we have to generate the power by ourselves. We have a main generator and a back up generator for emergency case.  However, during the activities, Koh Talu has to shut down the generator daily from 09.00 – 11.00 hrs. and afternoon from 15.00 – 17.00 hrs. The generators will be switched according to the power usage. For your convenience, you can ask our staff for temporary use of the back up generator if necessary. For water, we can produce limit fresh water because Koh Talu is a small island so there is no water resource. Most of the water is produced by us using the underground irrigation system integrating with forest recovery to reduce the surface soil erosion, so the rainfall will be absorbed and kept in underground. Normally, water usage rate is balance, but some years it is arid, and no seasonal rainfall resulting to water shortage for a short period. The water has been also carried from the shore for supply in case of running out of water.

  15. Can we set the activity schedule by ourselves?
Our activity staff will set the program according to weather conditions since most of the activities rather have limitations on weather conditions, water level, wind flow, etc. We will consider doing the activities on your highest benefit and safety.

  16. Can food or beverage be brought in?
Koh Talu reserves the right to bring any food or beverage on the island. In case of group tour, you can contact us for prior ordering, and delivering to the island for your convenience.

  17. How is Koh Talu’s geography?
Koh Talu is the center of restoration of marine resources which has been the first project of Thai Gulf for over 30 years. It is well known among Thai and European tourists. Koh Talu is a small island. The area is around 1,000 rai, approximately 11 kms. far from the land. The island is divided into 3 zones: primary forest about 700 rai, coconut farms 320 rai, and resorts 20 rai. Koh Talu has 2 big gulfs: Muk Gulf at the west side of the island. There is one resort with 23 rooms. Another big gulf is also on the west side. There is one resort with 38 rooms. The rest of area is small gulfs, such as, Kruad Gulf, Thien Gulf. All are on the west side of the island. On the east side is the windward beach, no gulf. In the north there are pot-like rocks in small mounds. There is coral reef around Koh Talu. But the coral reef on the west or leeward side is better than that on the east or windward side. Some parts are reef tract, and some are developed to be reef edge. Most of the west side reef is massive coral, no clear coral reef, scattered on small rocks brimming the water, along the west side, 100-200 meters from the shore.

  18. Is there any dangerous animal on the island?
Since over 90% of the area is forest, and Koh Talu’s policy is no hunting on the island except for Force Majeure. So please be careful in some area, especially outside the resort area. If any routes are found wrong, please keep away, and notify our staff urgently.

  19. Can Koh Talu be visited in every season? Which season is not suitable for tour?
Koh Talu Island and nearby area are located on the west of Thai Gulf and influenced by the seasonal monsoon. The windward side of the island is the east, and the leeward side is the west.
From January to February it is influenced by the Northeast Wind (Tapao Wind and Pattaya Wind). Waves come from the Northeast. And from March to April, it is influenced by Southeast Wind (Afternoon Wind). Waves come from Southeast. Windward side is in the East, and some Northern Parts are located behind the island (East and North). So the front of the island has no effect.
From May to June, it is influenced by Southwest Monsoon (Slatan Wind). Waves come from the South but not severely. The windward side is the South of the island.
From July to August, it is influenced by West Wind (Serng Wind). Waves come from the West.  The windward side is in the West (the front of the island), but not severely since the wind current is lessened by Tanaosri Mountains along the shore, and the island is not far from the shore
From September to October, it is influenced by Northeast Wind (Uga Wind). Waves come from the Northeast, heavy rainfall. The windward side is the North. From November to December, it is influenced by North Wind (Kite Wind). Waves come from the North and there is the strongest wind gust in this period. The windward side is the North and East, especially in the period of end October to December. There may be strong wind and big waves some days. Regular weather checking is needed.
